【文章摘要】: The awareness of health and hygiene for consumers has increased the demand for antimicrobial textiles. Whilst in the past it was predominantly technical textiles, which had, antimicrobial finishes in particular protecting against bacteria and fungi, now-a-days textiles worn close to the body have been developed for a variety of different applications as far as medical and hygienic tasks in hospital applications. Antibacterial finish on fabrics can minimize the transfer of microorganisms onto the wearer by creating a physical barrier. It prevents the skin diseases caused by the microorganisms. A new approach is made in this research work to make textile material antimicrobial using Bio shield AM 500 agent on cotton fabrics. The anti-microbial agent of Bio shield AM 500 3-(trimethoxy silyl)-propyl-dimethyl octadecyl ammonium chloride is applied to cotton fabrics by a cold pad-batch method in the presence of an alkaline catalyst to evaluate its use as a durable antimicrobial finish.
